4-Star review due to a serious problem with the hardware.Highly recommend this product. Heavy duty, quality materials, easy to assemble, works very well. Now, for that hardware. The Trapeze Holder that slides along the frame that hangs over the bed is basically a C-Clamp. The hardware used to tighten it is a bolt with a small bar on the head instead of a flat hex head. This is great for the Trapeze Holder. There is very little force on the holder as far as sliding it along on the upright frame. Very easy to adjust and easy to tighten by hand. The big problem is that the same bolt with the small bar on the head is to be used to tighten the two bracket clamps that are installed on the A-Frame. This is an absolute joke. Each of the bracket clamps has the same C-Clamp on it that is used on the Trapeze Holder. The big problem is that each of the C-Clamps is WELDED to a square piece of steel tubing. You are NOT going to close the C-Clamps. You must BEND the metal flanges on the steel C-Clamps.Now for the easy fix. First, fire the guy that includes this hardware with the product. Then, throw out these stupid bolts. Buy two 3/8-in x 1-1/2-in Zinc-Plated Coarse Thread Hex Bolts - Lowe's Item #63324. Buy two 3/8-in Zinc-plated Standard Flat Washers - Lowe's Item #63308. Put the washers on the bolts, screw the bolts into the bracket clamps, and tighten those puppies with a socket wrench or a sturdy adjustable spanner wrench. They will be TIGHT and they will definitely prevent the upright frame from slipping. Even under heavy use.Buy this product. Buy the $2.00 worth of hardware that I mentioned which SHOULD have been included with the product. Enjoy the product.Complain to the manufacturer about the hardware problem that is potentially dangerous, and is easily corrected by including the proper hardware for the job. Their website address and their phone number is on the back of the instruction booklet, which is very well written and easy to follow. This item is very sturdy. When tightened it can easily take my 200+ pounds pulling on it. But it is very difficult to adjust. To adjust the height there are 2 little bars that you have to turn. Each is covered by a loose rubber cap. I say loose because in the process of adjusting the height all 4 slipped off at least once. Additionally, the thin metal bar needs enough pressure to cause pain in your hands. I had to grab a pair of work gloves. I then tightened it as much as I could and it still wasn't secure. I'm going to have to find a hammer to try to tap them into a position where the trapeze won't come crashing down on my mother when she uses it. There has to be a better way to design a clamp. Actually there is. C-clamps have a much better design, as do vices. This is the second one of these that I have ordered, and it is the second one that I have had to drill out / grind out the holes in order to add the four bolts. This is definitely a problem that needs to be addressed at the manufacturer. Other than the four holes not lining up, this product is a good item.I wanted it to help my son pull up from the bed to move. He is a quadriplegic. I wanted it to give him a bit of independenceI've been assembling a lot of patient aid equipment for my husband lately, and I was pleasantly relieved at the clear instructions and easy assembly of this floor stand trapeze bar. And It is sturdy also and well constructed and fits perfectly at the head of my husband's adjustable bed. And being the color coordinator that I am, I'm also very pleased with the color of the bars because the ivory color not only coordinates with the color of my walls, but it is also a much warmer color than steel. This devise is worth every penny! The only drawback is the patient has to have some upper body strength to be able to use it.I have needed a trapeze for quite some time but could never afford a nice one that could handle my weight. This fits the bill perfectly! Easy to install and works like a dream! Took a bit to get it but it was very much worth the wait.Does exactly what it is supposed to do, my mom loves it and she is able to be more mobile in her bed, getting in and out and adjusting herself on the mattress. The only drawback is that the actual triangle that hangs down can’t be adjusted to be shorter, as the S-hooks are fixed closed on the chain, probably for safety reasons, but other than that, great product for the price, also easy to assemble.
